Astaxanthin is a kind of β- carotene , which is the most widely distributed xanthophyll pigment in the biological world. It exists in the feathers of shrimp, crab, fish and birds in aquatic animals, and it is orange-red. Like vitamins, astaxanthin cannot be synthesized by animals. Some crustaceans can convert carotenoids into astaxanthin, but it still cannot meet the body's requirement and must be ingested from food. Practical application:
- Poultry feed:
- For livestock, astaxanthin is effective in preventing and curing diseases. Astaxanthin can improve immunity and anti-inflammatory ability, greatly improve the survival rate of animals, and reduce the occurrence of infectious diseases.
- Increase egg production rate of poultry.
- Poultry will accumulate astaxanthin in eggs, which not only increases the color of egg yolk, but also greatly improves the nutritional value of eggs.
- Aquatic feed:
